About me

Who am I? And what might my qualifications be for writing as I do?

To answer the second question first: I have a BA in Biblical Studies and a PhD in Theology and Politics: indeed the first half of the book is based on my PhD thesis: ‘Educating Christians for Political Involvement: An Examination of Augustinian, Liberation and Confessing Church Approaches.’ The second half of the book comes mainly from issues I had to deal with in my time as World Development Officer for Durham Diocese.

As for who I am, I am a writer, husband and father to two sons. I am a Reader in our local Anglican church. I have had several teaching jobs in both the maintained and private sectors. I also taught in Botswana (Africa) for three years, where I wrote a complete set of revision notes for the Mathematics International ‘O’ level syllabus. Apart from the ‘O’ level notes, I have published poems, academic articles, ‘The Story of Easneye’ – this was a history of All Nations Christian College commissioned for its Silver Jubilee celebrations in 1998 (and is available from All Nations at £2.50 plus postage and packing) and, of course, ‘Engaging Politics?’.
